Most of us know we should eat a healthy breakfast. We just don’t want to think about it at 7am. That’s exactly why overnight oats exist – you do two minutes of prep the night before, and wake up to something genuinely good for you.
The Simple Recipe
What you need (1 serving):
- ½ cup rolled oats (not instant – they’ll go mushy)
- ½ cup milk of your choice
- ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- A handful of mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
- Optional: chia seeds, nut butter, granola on top
Making it
Combine the oats, milk, yogurt, and sweetener in a jar or container. Stir well, seal it, and put it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, add your berries and any toppings you like. That’s it. No cooking, no cleanup, no decisions before coffee.
The One Tweak Worth Making
If you want to level up the nutrition without adding effort, stir in a tablespoon of chia seeds before refrigerating. The whole grains, nuts, and seeds all contribute meaningful antioxidants to the diet – and chia seeds add omega-3s and extra fiber on top of that.
A Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
The best breakfast habit is the one you’ll actually stick to. Overnight oats are hard to argue with – they take less time to prep than brewing coffee, they keep for up to five days in the fridge, and they give your body something worth working with.
Make a batch on Sunday. Your Monday-through-Friday self will thank you.
